Etoile is a hosted search infrastructure that makes content searchable using AI. It focuses on simplicity, clear behavior, and a clean developer experience, without requiring search expertise or complex configuration.

Mental model

• Project — Your project. Usually one app or website.
• Collection — Basically categories for your documents, like "users" or "posts" (can be easily filtered).
• Document — What the user is looking for. Has id, title, content, collection, and optional metadata (usually a url).

Authentication

• Get your API keys in your dashboard.
• Public key powers search only. (Searching is free and unlimited. No stress!)
• Secret key is private and should not be exposed. It allows you to index, update, and delete documents.
